It is a wonderful life, especially when a classic holiday favorite is live on stage and accompanied by orchestral music, singing and dancing this Christmas as Theatre Bristol presents at Paramount Bristol “It’s a Wonderful Life,” the musical in six performances November 20-22 and December 4-6, at 518 State Street, Bristol, TN. Based on the beloved film and holiday tradition, “It’s a Wonderful Life” the musical follows George Bailey’s life from his childhood dreams to his midlife disappointments and beyond, to see whether his life has mattered at all to the residents of Bedford Falls. Cinematically scored and theatrically staged, this adaptation breathes musical life into a familiar story, while retaining the warmth, humor and pathos of the original. Veteran director and actor Kenn Naegele, with most recent directing credits of Annie, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Oklahoma, Steel Magnolias, directs this classic Christmas favorite.
“It’s a Wonderful Life” the musical opens November 20, and runs for the weekends prior to and following Thanksgiving weekend, November 20-22 and December 4-6, at the beautiful Paramount Bristol, Fridays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 5:30 pm, and Sundays at 2:30 pm. “It’s a Wonderful Life” the musical is part of Theatre Bristol’s 2026 Season of comedies, dramas, and musicals, including “American Tall Tales” with River’s Way, “Charlotte’s Web,” “Grease,” “Red, White and Tuna,” “The Mockingbird Sings,” and “Deathtrap”; and the Cathy DeCaterina School of Theatre Arts classes; “The SpongeBob Musical”: Youth Edition; PLAYtime in the ARTspace; The StART of Adventure summer camp; and audition and stagecraft workshops.
Founded in 1965 by Cathy DeCaterina, Theatre Bristol is a community theatre serving all ages that also has the distinction as the oldest continually running children’s theatre in northeast Tennessee, with a long history continuing to serve southeast Virginia. Its seasons consist of drama, comedy, and musical productions that take place at Paramount Bristol, in the blackbox ARTspace Theatre, and at the Cameo Theatre, and educational opportunities provided by our School of Theatre Arts.
