As part of its independent Lens Series, East Tennessee PBS and the Paramount Center for the Arts invite the public to a free screening of “Birth of a Movement.” This documentary tells the little-known story of the editor of a Boston black newspaper who helped launch a nationwide movement in 1915 to ban Hollywood’s first blockbuster, the later controversial “The Birth of a Nation.” This film debuts a new independent film series at the Paramount in conjunction with PBS.
